Autumn Antoinette

This garment was created for my Draping final project. My goal was to create a very feminine silhouette with oranges, brown, and golds to evoke feelings of fall. The contrast of a soft design using a stiff leather for the corset was also a challenge.

The bustier of the garment is made from a very stiff faux leather with gold filigree details. I top-stitched the seams of the bustier using a gold thread, and used gold eyelets for the corset lacing on the back.

The skirt is a very light, flowy, crepe polyester that matches the color of the leather bustier lining.  The shape was achieved by sewing 6 layers of tulle to a petticoat attached to the skirt. The tulle is various autumn colors-- red, yellow, and orange-- to bring the color palette together.
